The Chase star Anne Hegerty has revealed that she had a rather sexier costume in mind when appearing on the ITV series. Anne, who goes by “the Governess” on the show, went on to joke about the less flattering outfit that she has to wear instead.
The famous quizzer, 63, is best known for wearing a smart matching trouser suit on The Chase, but has admitted she would love to spice up her image with some bondage gear.
The Governess said: “I really would like my costume to include high heels, fishnet stockings and a whip, but they don’t seem to want to go for that.”
The star joined the show back in 2010 and has joked about how, in spite of it being an expensive and quality brand, she has managed to make her suit look like it was purchased “from a charity shop”.
Speaking on BBC Radio Manchester, Anne described how her outfit for the show had originally been decided.
She explained: “They sent me with our fashion stylist to a shop to try on some clothes, and the stylist took some pictures and sent them back to the producer.
“When I got back to the studio the producer said, ‘Did you have a nice shopping trip?’
“And I said, ‘Oh, yes. I think I’m going to have a nice, little, navy Chanel trouser suit,’ and she said, ‘I think you’re not.’
“I went, ‘OK,’ and then I saw what they were going to put me in and I was like, ‘Right, well, clearly there’s going to be no room for vanity here.’
“It’s actually quite an expensive Italian fashion house, it’s just I manage to make it look as if it’s been bought from a charity shop.”

While her TV career was launched when she joined The Chase in 2010, Anne has gone on to make multiple appearances on air since then.
In 2017, she appeared alongside fellow chaser Mark Labbett on an episode of Celebrity Juice and also made a guest appearance on an edition of BBC Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.
Most notably, Anne was a contestant on ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018.
While Anne was the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from the show, she still managed to make a lasting impression on viewers.
Meanwhile, the three celebrities to make it to the final included Doctor Who’s John Barrowman, The Inbetweeners’ Emily Atack and football legend Harry Redknapp.
In the end, Harry was crowned King of the Jungle after he won over the hearts of the public with his entertaining stories.
The Chase Celebrity Special airs tomorrow on ITV at 4.30pm.
