Adele, 33, received some backlash in 2020 after she dedicated an Instagram post to Notting Hill Carnival after it was cancelled because of Covid. The controversial photo saw Adele at an outdoor party wearing a Jamaican flag bikini and her hair in Bantu knots.

“Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London,” she captioned the image.

However, some fans accused the singer of cultural appropriation and suggested she was profiting off black culture with her choice of outfit and hair.

Now, Adele has revealed how her management reacted to the post in a YouTube video with Nikkie de Jager, 27, otherwise known as Nikkie Tutorials.

The conversation began when Nikkie asked Adele whether she reads many of the messages she receives on social media.

Adele said: “No, in Covid they let me have my password.

“I was never allowed my passwords for my socials before, but obviously the internet was just on fire during Covid, it kept everyone’s morale up.”

Adele then explained that she was never allowed her password because she thinks her management were “worried she would get drunk or be annoying”.

However, she says her password was taken off her again after posting the photograph marking Notting Hill Carnival.

She explained: “It was the only picture I ever posted myself, and then they took my password away from me.”

Adele has previously opened up about how she understood why people found the image controversial.

She told Vogue in October: “I could see comments being like, ‘the nerve to not take it down,’ which I totally get.

“But if I take it down, it’s me acting like it never happened.

“And it did. I totally get why people felt like it was appropriating.”

Adele, who is from Tottenham and has lived in Notting Hill, said she wanted to show solidarity with Londoners at a time they would have been celebrating.

The celebration has taken place yearly since 1966 to celebrate Caribbean culture.

Adele continued: “If you don’t go dressed to celebrate the Jamaican culture – and in so many ways we are so entwined in that part of London – then it’s a little bit like, ‘What you coming for, then?’

 “I didn’t read the f***ing room.

“I was wearing a hairstyle that is actually to protect Afro hair. Ruined mine, obviously.”

After taking a few years away from music, Adele has made a huge comeback this year.

This week she announced her new Las Vegas residency which will begin in January 2022 and run until April 16.

Adele’s ‘Weekends With Adele’ will be at the Colosseum Theatre at Caesars Palace Hotel.

To secure tickets, fans are required to register for pre-sale access before December 3.

Tickets will then become available to buy from December 7.

Ticket prices haven’t been confirmed yet, but according to HITC, they could range from a pricey $85 to $650 (£64 to £488), not including fees.
