Celebrities have flocked to defend TV chef James Martin after he issued an apology statement in the light of ‘bullying’ allegations.
The 51-year-old cited personal life pressures including a shock cancer diagnosis, the death of his last surviving grandparent, and a home burglary as building up to his ‘very emotional state’ when his home was ‘flooded’ while filming due to a blocked drain.
‘I can only say I am human and following a build-up of personal life pressure, I admit I overreacted regarding the damage to my home,’ he said.
He also revealed at the time he had been diagnosed with cancer on his face, and it has since returned on ‘several occasions.’
The former Saturday Kitchen presenter apologised ‘for upsetting or causing offence’ while filming the ITV programme five years ago in 2018.
It was reported that in May this year, a complaint was made to the broadcaster from close colleagues, with ITV confronting Martin and informing him to change his conduct as a result.
According to Deadline, it was claimed that five years ago while filming James Martin’s Saturday Morning, the presenter ‘launched a foul-mouthed tirade against staff’ when the drain blocked.
Now celebrities are showing their support for James, with many big names commenting on his Instagram apology.
Actor Denise van Outen wrote: ‘James & @ralph_loulabelle I love you both so much! You’ve always made me feel welcome and you know hanging out with you guys on your show with you’re brilliant team is one of my highlights of the year.
‘I’m so sorry this has been put out into the public domain, when I know you’ve already apologised in private. Sending loads of love to you guys. Can’t wait to see you soon. ❤️’

First Dates host Fred Sirieix also offered his support, as he wrote: ‘Such a shame you felt compelled to do this. Keep your head up. I’m looking forward to your next show and to see you again x.’
This Morning presenter Dermot O’Leary, said: ‘Chin up, shoulders back, butter ready to speed . X.’
Singer Natalie Imbruglia also offered her support, as she said: ‘Oh man… sending you so much love. Sorry you are having to deal with this… ❤️’
In the most recent update, the moment he scolded staff over the incident has now been ‘leaked’ with the presenter heard swearing 42 times in a 10-minute rant.
In the audio, obtained by The Sun, Martin told his team they should be ‘f***ing fried’ and ordered they take their lunch breaks in the ‘f***ing rain.’
‘Show me and show my house more f**king respect – if not, you’re gone,’ he is heard saying.
