Apple has begun to quietly roll out a new radio station on its Apple Music platform, namely “Discovery Station,” designed to help users find new songs, something that has been missing from the platform.
Based on what we know so far, the station algorithmically recommends songs in an experience unique to each user, basing its curated selection on what the user has listened to recently but that they have not yet added to their library or heard before. Although there has been no official announcement, multiple reports have shown that the station is becoming available on mobile, desktop and web applications of Apple Music.
While the new station can hardly be compared to Spotify‘s offerings that provide ease of discovery, like its “Discover Weekly” playlist, the new station does seem to be a step in the right direction for Apple Music and an answer to something users have been asking for.
Keep an eye out for an official announcement on the station and future development from Apple — if you give the station a try, let us know what you think in the comments below.
Elsewhere in music, Kanye’s childhood home replica from ‘DONDA’ concert is officially up for auction.
