Reader Louise Jones wrote in to ask our advice on the best places to stay in Corfu without the hassle of hiring a car.
Q: "We want to go to Corfu for a villa holiday in 2020. We would like a town or village with a beach, plenty of tavernas, shops and places to mooch about.
"But we also need access to a bus service to travel around the island because we do not want to hire a car.
"And we would rather not stay in Corfu Town. Do you have any suggestions?"
A. Not hiring a car restricts your options slightly. But Kassiopi is a great choice to base yourself. It has a comprehensive choice of bars, tavernas and shops to suit all tastes and pockets on the sought-after northeast corner of the island.
The villa Petros is just over a mile from the village and 200m from beautiful Votana Bay. Less than a mile away is the beautiful, secluded beach of Avlaki and its two adjacent tavernas.
The villa itself sleeps eight people in four en suite bedrooms with a contemporary style and spacious living space.
There are two living rooms, one on each floor, as well as a formal dining area.
Outside you can make the most of a private swimming pool, which can be fenced off on request if you have young children, as well as a gazebo, open and shaded terraces and a built-in barbecue.
Rates there start from £184 a night, and you can book it on Airbnb.
