Area 47 is the perfect adventure water park for grown ups with massive slides, diving platforms and even a beach bar – The Sun

AN adventure water park for adults wanting to get the adrenaline pumping can be found within the Austrian Alps.

Featuring a giant slide, a diving area with a huge air cushion as well as a beach bar, it is less than two hours from the UK for thrill-seekers to visit.

Called Area 47, the 95,000 square metre park has more than 35 different activities on offer.

There are three main areas – the Wake Area, the Water Area and the Outdoor Area.

In the Water Area, you can slide down the 17m (55ft) water ramp with speeds up to 50kmph (30mph), flying up to eight metres (26ft) in the air.

Sliders have a choice of going down on their own or using their Hydro-speed bobsled, which slides across the lake when it lands at the bottom.

Divers can also jump onto the huge air cushion for 'blobbing' which catapults them into the air before making a splash in the lake.

With heights between three metres (9ft) and 27 metres (88ft), each jump gets more challenging.

Also included are five normal water slides for adults who want less adventure.

Wake-boarders can head to the 20,000 square metre area with both beginners and professionals able to try the water sport for themselves.

Other activities at Area 47 include caving, canyoning, zip lining, high ropes courses, mountain biking and rafting in the Outdoor Area.

A 27m (88ft) climbing wall with views of the mountains is even the highest climbing tower in the country.

The beach bar in the day is the perfect place to spend a few hours with cocktails and snacks, while the River Haus Bar & Grill offers Alpine beef steaks.

Thankfully the adventure continues into the night, with the restaurant transforming into a club with DJs and dancers – and women getting a free welcome drink on Fridays and Saturdays.

Families heading to the park can take children under 13, although reviews on TripAdvisor explain there is little for younger kids to do at the park.

You can choose to stay overnight in the area with a choice of double or triples log cabins rooms, or even wooden tepees.

Guests who stay in on-site accommodation get free entry to the Water Area.

Adults prices for the Water Area start from €25 (£22) while the Wake Area prices start from €22 (£20) per person for one hour excluding equipment rental.

Accommodation starts from €41.70 (£38) for tepees and €51.70 (£48) for a double room.
