Naomi Campbell is out to prove that grunge never goes out of style.
The supermodel, 48, stars in the campaign for Marc Jacobs’ newly-reissued grunge collection, comprised of 26 looks from the designer’s iconic spring 1993 line for Perry Ellis. At the time, the subversive collection resulted in Jacobs being fired from the fashion house — but as Campbell proves, Jacobs’ layered looks and mixed prints are downright classic.
In the new lookbook shot, Campbell wears a lemon-covered wrap dress ($550), cropped pants ($350), combat boots ($220) and a colorful beanie ($95), the very same outfit she modeled on the Perry Ellis runway 25 years ago. According to the model’s Instagram caption, she was “honored to wear it again.”
Jacobs’ original show for Perry Ellis also featured Campbell’s fellow supes like Kate Moss, Tyra Banks and Kristen McMenamy — whose daughter Lily stars in the reissued line’s campaign wearing the same lavender outfit her mother did on the catwalk back in 1993.
