Heathers episodes pulled after Pittsburgh synagogue shooting

The installments were not shown because they featured a storyline involving high school students having active shooter training, according to showbusiness website Deadline.

It reported the cable network had initially delayed the premiere of the series, which features violent scenes, following the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida that left 17 dead in February.

The broadcaster then decided to scrap the series but earlier this month announced it would be aired but with certain scenes cut out.

It decided all nine episodes would be broadcast from 25 October and also made them available on its app and website.

The two episodes that were pulled from the main schedule on Sunday remain available via VOD and the app and website.

The dark comedy, based on the 1988 cult film, is set in the present day and tells the story of Veronica Sawyer (Grace Victoria Cox), a girl dealing with her own group of vicious Heathers.

The cast also includes Brendan Scannell, James Scully, Melanie Field, Jasmine Mathews, and original movie star Shannen Doherty.
