Two hapless builders put up a fence in front of a home like they were hired to do – only to realise they had trapped their van inside.
An eyewitness captured the amusing incident on camera as the workmen fenced themselves in and had to figure out how to remove the vehicle.
It seemed like a sketch from a comedy show, and the face-palming images – taken in Manchester’s Cheetham Hill last week – have set off laughter online.
Col Condron, who was working at a property nearby, told the Manchester Evening News that it took the men about half an hour to free the van.
The two men were building a fence around a house and had parked their white van carrying their materials on the driveway outside.
They got to work, erecting several posts, and then began to put in the concrete panels.
It was at around this point that they realised their mistake.
Photos taken by Col, 40, show the men trying to squeeze the van through the posts.
He said: "They parked the van, built the fence, and forgot the van was there.
"It took them about half an hour to get it out. They had to take the fence apart again, and then pull the fence posts back in the wet concrete.
"They got the van out and put it all back together again."
Col shared the images on Facebook, saying, "Only gone and fenced his van in – the helmet."
