How much water should you drink a day?
According to the NHS, men should drink more water than women.
The health service’s website reads: “The European Food Safety Authority recommends that women should drink about 1.6 litres of fluid and men should drink about 2.0 litres of fluid per day.
“That’s about eight glasses of 200ml each for a woman, and 10 glasses of 200ml each for a man.”
Although the Government guidelines suggest drinking eight to ten glasses of water a day, factors such as your size, temperature and activity levels can make a massive difference on how much water you should drink.
As a rule, one tends to get around 20 percent of their water through food.
So as a general rule, health officials tend to advise drinking around two litres of water each day.
This is equivalent to a large bottle of fizzy drink or three-and-a-half pints.
But if you feel dehydrated it is best to listen to your body and drink more water.

It is possible to drink too much water.
For most people with healthy kidneys, drinking water in excess will likely be handled by urinating more frequently.
But a potential side effect of drinking too much water is hyponatraemia which is a condition when one’s sodium levels fall to dangerously low levels due to drinking too much water.
How to tell if you are drinking enough water?
The easiest way to check if you are drinking enough water is to keep track of the colour of your urine.
If you are drinking enough urine, your urine will be clear or pale yellow.
If your urine is a deep or darker yellow it means you are not drinking enough water.
