‘Amazing’ slow cooker hack makes a roast dinner with just four ingredients

Roast dinners are a British favourite.

Many of us tuck into meat and veg for our Sunday lunches – but the meals can be a lot of effort to prepare.

So if you’re tired of spending hours on all the trimmings, listen up.

There’s a way to make a very basic roast in a slow cooker – and you’ll only need to four ingredients to pull-off the recipe.

When the cooking hack was posted onto Facebook, foodies raved about it.

Many said they’d be giving the recipe a go, while others admitted that they whip up the cheat’s roast “all the time”.

On the Slow Cooker Recipe & Tips page, a home cook shared details of the recipe.

They popped four ingredients – silverside meat, half an onion, three carrots and a bottle of ginger ale – into their kitchen appliance.

They then cooked them on high for two hours, before turning the slow cooker to low for four hours.

The Facebook user added sides to the four-ingredient recipe – but this is optional.

They recommend broccoli, potatoes and cheese sauce, which don’t take long to prepare.

The Facebook user added: “Cooked mash potatoes in a pot and broccoli in the microwave.

“Made my own cheese sauce – two tablespoons butter melted in a saucepan pot, then add one teaspoon of plain flour and whisk in until it forms a crumb-like texture.

“Add milk in gradually and cheese – mix until melted and thick (if too thick add more milk).”

Apparently, the finished results were delicious.

The poster added: “Omg yum! First silverside in the slow cooker and I’m in love.”

Facebook users seem pretty impressed with the simple roast recipe.

Dozens have liked the post – and one commenter remarked: “Looks amazing. Yum!”

Others raved about similar recipes that they prepared in slow cookers.

One responder wrote: “I use celery, carrot, maple syrup, mustard, onion, clove, bay leaf and garlic.

“Everyone that tries it says it’s the best they’ve ever had.”

Another said: “I use water, a splash of vinegar and some cloves.

“You don’t taste the vinegar at all.”

And a third added: “I do this all the time. A friend put me onto it ages ago.”
