Take a short trip back in time with me to August 12, last Monday. Popeyes, that fast food restaurant with delicious chicken tenders and biscuits, tweeted that they have a brand-new chicken sandwich.
So, it’s a piece of fried chicken breast, on a bun, with pickles and a special sauce. If that sounds familiar, that’s probably because it’s ~very~ similar to Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwich.

And if you’re wondering how it compares, the word is that it’s pretty dang good!
People are definitely into it.
So. Today, Chick-fil-A tweeted THIS out:
“THE ORIGINAL.” The chicken gauntlet has been thrown!
Basically all of Chicken Sandwich Twitter was like ?.
And that’s when Popeyes struck back:
THE CHICKEN WARS HAVE BEGUN!
Seriously though, people are excited to be able to get a tasty chicken sandwich on a Sunday, when ~certain restaurants~ are closed.
And then there’s the history of Chick-fil-A’s owner opposing LGBTQ rights.
Those who have been forgoing chicken sandwiches to support a boycott are understandably excited.
Let’s just hope things don’t escalate:
