Skin expert reveals how to get glowing skin like pregnant Meghan Markle, from using an SPF in winter to slapping on a Vitamin C serum

A skincare expert has revealed how anyone can copy the stunning duchess in obtaining perfect-looking complexion.

Dr Firas Al-Niaimi, Group Medical Director for UK-based skincare clinic group, sk:n, told the Sun Online that there are some hacks you can follow to get Meghan’s glowing skin.

He said that it is essential to tackle three areas of your life in order to look your best: diet, your skincare routine, and sleep.

And if you have a big occasion coming up in the diary, such as a wedding or milestone party, you should start focusing on your skin as early as six months in advance.

Here’s how you can get Meghan’s glowing features….

Diet

Dr Firas Al-Niaimi said: “A balanced diet which includes the right vitamins, minerals and plenty of omega 3 is not only beneficial for your overall wellbeing but can also help ensure skin looks its best.

“Avocados and salmon are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and they help towards maintaining moisture in the epidermal layer of your skin, keeping it soft and hydrated.

“Vegetables such as peppers, carrots and kale contain an antioxidant called carotenoid which is proven to improve skin’s density, thickness, tone and general appearance.”

He recommends avoiding food that is high in processed sugar, as this may lead to the appearance and worsening of spots on the face, neck or chest in some cases.

The skin expert added: “Likewise, excessive caffeine intake can dehydrate the skin causing it to appear dull and become more prone to dry patches, sensitivities and breakouts.

“Most importantly, hydrating from the inside out is absolutely key.”

Daily skincare routine

Dr Firas Al-Niaimi said: “Investing in a tailored skincare regime is an investment worth making, yet it is not essential to break the bank.

“Everyone should be using two key products – a cleanser and moisturiser which are both suitable for their skin type.”

He explained that the cleanser will keep the skin clean, whilst the moisturiser will keep the skin hydrated, supple and glowing.

The skin professional added: “Additionally, an antioxidant serum such as Vitamin C can stimulate the production of collagen and work to defend skin against damage from things like pollution.

“Meghan’s skin has clearly been well protected from the sun, which is the key cause of skin damage.

“At sk:n we recommend using sun protection year-round, particularly if you have fair skin which will damage more easily.

“A moisturiser with a built in SPF is ideal.”

Sleep

We all love a good kip but it actually can be ideal for sprucing up your skin too.

Dr Firas Al-Niaimi explained: “Sleep deprivation decreases circulation, which is why you may lack luminosity if you don’t get enough rest.

“Getting plenty of sleep allows your skin to rejuvenate itself. In the run up to a big event like a wedding, finding ways to de-stress so that you sleep well and soundly is essential to ensure you are looking and feeling your absolute best.”

Dr Firas advised that extra treatments can help to improve the quality of skin, in addition to your daily routine.

He said: “Treatments like microdermabrasion, which use fine microcrystals to remove dead skin cells, are ideal for renewing the skin and giving a fresher, younger looking glow.

“This sort of treatment is one of the least disruptive and ideal for those with sensitive skin too.”
