Nike Air Trainer 3 "New Orchid" Is Basically Dracula's PE

It’s been 123 years since Count Dracula made his first appearance in Bram Stoker’s legendary novel Dracula, but in 2020 the Count is as popular as ever — and he’s even seemingly inspired a new Nike Air Trainer 3. Dubbed the “New Orchid,” the versatile cross training silhouette takes on a spooky color scheme and undead details, making for a perfectly potent Halloween release that any Nike Sportswear fan will surely want to dig their teeth into.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield for Bo Jackson, the Air Trainer 3 was meant to be a go-anywhere, do-anything sports shoe. Owing to that versatile ethos, it features a 5/8 cut and a two-part plastic overlay system for support. Here, this familiar assemblage is built of white tumbled leather and black nubuck, with Swooshes featuring a flat red to black patent gradient fade. A white Nike hit is present on the forefoot’s fit strap and small touches of red are scattered across the black plastic heel counter.

Unusual undead detailing appears on both tongues and heels: the former supplies a graphic of gaping fangs chomping down on a Nike logo, while the latter adds simple debossed bats. Much like vampires try to hide their true nature, however, the main detail is partially hidden. If you peer into the collar, you’ll see that the insoles feature a full vampiric visage. White and black midsoles with red speckling, a clear Air Max unit and a multicolor outsole round off the look.

The Nike Air Trainer 3 “New Orchid” is set to release via Nike SNKRS on October 20. The MSRP is set at $130 USD.
