The set of performers for the 50th anniversary of one of the most famous music festivals ever is finally here. On Tuesday, the Woodstock 50 lineup was announced, and there are so many musicians set to perform you won’t know what to do with yourself.
The festival is being held on Aug. 16, 17 and 18 of 2019 in Watkins Glen, New York and will feature some top-notch musicians performing on three stages called the Peace Stage, Love Stage and Music Stage. The stages were inspired by the three keywords used in the key art for the original festival back in the late ’60s, per Variety.
Among the headliners are Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, Halsey, the Black Keys, Imagine Dragons, Chance the Rapper, Dead & Company, The Killers and Santana.
As for the list of other performers, part of the huge lineup includes: Raconteurs, Robert Plant and the Sensational Shapeshifters, Run the Jewels, Gary Clark Jr., Cage the Elephant, Greta Van Fleet, Janelle Monáe, Brandi Carlile, Maggie Rogers, Margo Price, Sturgill Simpson, Portugal the Man, Dawes, the Lumineers, Bishop Briggs, Pussy Riot, Courtney Barnett, Leon Bridges, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, John Fogerty, Common, Young the Giant and the Zombies.
There will even be quite a few artists who performed at the original 1969 festival, including Santana, John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Sebastian, CSNY’s David Crosby, Melanie, Country Joe McDonald and Canned Heat.
And that is just a small portion of the musicians set to attend. According to Variety, Common said during a press conference for the festival, “It’s no one age group or genre, it’s not monolithic – anyone who loves music and loves love would enjoy this.”
One can imagine how exciting it would be to perform at the anniversary celebration. As you can see below, Halsey couldn’t contain her excitement and tweeted an appropriate response that included use of the F-word. She posted on Tuesday, “yeah for fucks sake I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m headlining fucking Woodstock. fuck me. see you there.”
If you were headlining Woodstock 50, you’d probably feel the exact same way. There’s no denying Halsey can’t wait to perform at the major festival, alongside some of her fellow talented colleagues. Who can blame her?
Tickets for Woodstock 50 go on sale on April 22. You can find more information at the festival’s official website.
