When it comes to longterm relationships, Hollywood doesn’t always have the best track record. From Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, it seems even the most solid couples call it quits. And the 2019 celebrity breakups are no different: So far, the year has already seen the end of Toni Braxton and Birdman, Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie and Lady Gaga and Christian Carino.
Many high-profile couples go the distance — Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn have been together for 35 years, Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith have passed the two-decade mark with their marriage — but not everyone in Hollywood is so lucky to enjoy a lasting relationship. And while not every famous couple is destined to fail, celebrity relationships often face challenges that most do not.
As for this year, sit back and grab your tissues because the 2019 celebrity breakups so far are a doozy.
Katie Holmes & Jamie Foxx
Another sneaky split from two big stars! According to People, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx broke up in May, ending their six-year relationship. The couple was last seen together at the Met Gala on May 6, and are so private that they’ve never officially confirmed their relationship. But after Foxx was spotted out with singer Sela Vave this past weekend, sources confirmed his split from Holmes.
While we never knew much about the inner workings of this couple, it’s sad to see such a long relationship end. Hopefully, both parties are moving on and happy with their decision.

Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
The couple met in 2009, and Hemsworth first proposed in 2012. After a rocky engagement, the couple split in 2013 — then reconciled in 2015, and officially became husband and wife December 2018 in Tennessee. Their split was announced August 10, 2019.

More recently, she’s talked about her battle with Grave’s disease, saying she and Hunter were “glued at the hip” during this trying time.

While their last split seems tied to Affleck’s addiction struggles (he re-entered rehab shortly thereafter), this split is apparently due to the long-distance nature of their relationship.
“The distance was definitely a huge factor in their breakup,” the source tells ET. “They both have a lot of love for each other but ultimately they realized it was not going to work.” Affleck is based in Los Angeles, while Shookus works out of New York City.
Ryan Seacrest & Shayna Taylor
These two stars are sadly calling it off, People confirms. These two met in 2013, had a brief split in 2014, and had been going strong ever since they rekindled things shortly thereafter. “It was an amicable split and they’re still really close,” a source tells People.
In 2017, the couple moved from New York City to Los Angeles together, when Seacrest was asked to host Live with Kelly and Ryan.
