Michelle Keegan has hit back at the constant obsession with when she and husband Mark Wright will have a baby, as it’s ‘nobody’s business’.
The Brassic star, 32, admits she’s learnt to brush off the question as she gets asked it so often, but hates the double standard that it’s only her and not Mark that gets quizzed on whether they are going have children.
She told The Sun: ‘It’s horrible. It’s like, “You’re 32. Are you not planning to have a baby yet?”
‘People don’t know if we’re trying. They don’t know the background of what’s happening. It’s no one else’s business. In this day and age you shouldn’t ask questions like that.’
She added: ‘I’m asked purely because I’m a woman. But I’m immune to it now — it’s like a reaction and as soon as I hear it I brush it off, as it’s no one else’s business.’
The couple have been together since meeting on holiday in Dubai in 2012, before getting married in 2015.
Michelle and Mark both have hugely successful and busy careers, which has in the past meant that the couple could spend up to three months without being in the same country due to their filming commitments.
Mark had to move over to Los Angeles for his presenting role on Extra while Michelle spent time in South Africa while filming Our Girl.
Mark told The Sun last year: ‘We say we’re going to try [for a baby] every year but something comes up with work.
‘So it’ll be Michelle filming in South Africa and then I got the job in Los Angeles – so we think, right, we’ll try next year.
‘It’ll be around December or January, we’ll talk about it and we’ll go from there.’
The couple have spoken about wanting children when the time is right, but for the moment are making the most of the rare downtime they have together on their recent holiday to Ibiza.
