Madonna Explains Cancellation Of Final North American Tour Date

In an apparent response to fan outrage over the cancellation of the last North American show of her Madame X tour, pop icon Madonna took to Instagram to say she called off the concert in Miami last Sunday because she was suffering “indescribable” pain.

Madonna shared a video from her Saturday night performance in Miami showing her struggling to climb a ladder and saying she was “in tears from the pain of my injuries.”

“With every song I sang, I said a prayer that I would make it to the next and get thru the show. My prayers were answered, and I made it,” Madonna wrote.

“I consider myself a warrior. I never quit, I never give in, I never give up!!” she added. “However this time I have to listen to my body and accept that my pain is a warning. I want to say how deeply sorry I am to all my fans for having to cancel my last show.”

Some fans expressed anger at the last-minute cancellation, with a report from the Daily Mail sharing tweets claiming Madonna threw a tantrum and called off the show due to low sales.

In her Instagram post, Madonna said doctors have made it clear she must rest for as long as possible in order to continue her Madame X tour in Europe beginning next month.

“I have never let an injury stop me from performing but this time i have to accept that there is no shame in being human and having to press the pause button,” she wrote. “I thank you all for your understanding, love and support.”

Madonna delayed the start of the tour due to production issues and was forced to cancel three Boston shows between November 30 and December 2, citing doctor’s orders.
