Love Island star Theo Campbell has lost vision in his right eye after a champagne cork ‘split it in half’.
Taking to Instagram, the athlete explained how he split his eye in half after an accident while on holiday in Ibiza.
He posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed with girlfriend Kaz Crossley and he could be seen sporting a large patch over his eye.
‘Thanks for all the messages and support I’ve got over the last couple days they’re all very much appreciated!’ he wrote in the caption.
‘So yeah basically 2 eye surgeries later after a really unfortunate accident, I’ve lost all vision in my right eye as it got split in half, who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me…’
The reality star continued: ‘But I still have 1 eye left, looking at the bright side of things. Thanks for flying out to look after me as well babe. if anyone knows where sells cool eye patches let me know :). #captinhook #thor #fettywap. [sic]’
His girlfriend Kaz shared a video clip of the pair kissing on her Instagram story while he lay in recovery.
‘Got him back out of surgery. What are you like babe,’ she wrote.
The 28-year-old’s post was flooded with well-wishes from the likes of Caroline Flack and his fellow Love Island stars.
‘Ah bro sorry to hear this news, everything will be bless g, mad things happen in life but we roll with the punches. Mans jus got a new niche fashion accessory to rock [sic],’ Marcel Somerville commented.
‘Sending all the love, you poor thing,’ Montana Brown added.
‘Paralympic comeback,’ Olympian Martyn Rooney suggested.
While Sherif Lanre commented on the playful nature in which Theo announced his news.
‘Bro when are you ever serious? Praying for a speedy recovery and good health brother,’ he wrote.
