Kym Marsh, 44, has expressed her thoughts over the criticism Katie Price, 42, received on Instagram after sharing pictures of her daughter Princess, 13, wearing make-up and having her hair done last week.

The Corontation Street star spoke out on the situation after Katie and Princess, who she shares with ex-husband Peter Andre, dolled up and posed for the camera in their matching pink jumpers.

Katie wrote on Instagram at the time: “Me and my gorgeous mini-me daughter @officialprincess_andre” which was followed by two red heart emojis.

Alongside another picture of Princess with poker-straight hair, pouting with pink lip gloss and fluttery eyelashes, she explained to her followers: “Princess had her makeup and hair done professionally done just for fun Thankyou @fern_makeup and @joel_maghair21 did hair, my little beauty queen”.

While many criticised the reality star for allowing her daughter to wear make-up, Kym stressed it isn’t a bad thing as she was also happy for her daughter to do the same at a similar age.

In her OK! magazine column this week, she admitted: “I saw that Katie Price came under fire for allowing her 13-year-old daughter Princess to get her hair and make-up done.

“She did look very grown-up, but maybe people are forgetting she’s a teenager and experimenting with your look is very normal at that age.”

Kym, who has two daughters Emily, 23, and Polly, nine, and son David, 25, went on to recall wearing the odd bit of make-up when she was also at school.

“I was sneaking in make-up to wear at school at about 14, and my eldest daughter Emilie started playing with it around the same age,” she continued.

“I’m happy for my daughter Polly to dress up and play, as long as it’s in the comfort of our own home and around family and friends.”

Many complimented Princess on her gorgeous look, as one commented: “My goodness, Princess is beautiful.”

Another shared underneath: “She’s a little stunner,” before a third added: “Every little girl’s dream! My daughter would love this.”

But some fans were left feeling disappointed over Katie’s decision as one wrote: “She’s 13 sorry but I don’t agree and don’t like it.”

One social media user then said: “She looks beautiful as her normal self she doesn’t need makeup.”

Elsewhere, critics also accused the star of breaking lockdown rules with one writing: “Take it it’s ok for makeup artists and hairdressers to work during a lockdown if it’s for a celebrity.”

Katie soon set the record straight online as she later commented: “Throwback pictures are allowed to be posted when I like stop judging all the time it’s so boring.”
