In fact, things are going so well for the pair that they’re even thinking about babies and marriage. Katie, who has been living with Carl since they met in June, tells us she’s ready to take the next step in their relationship – although Carl is ruling out a Christmas proposal.

Here, the queen of reality, 42, opens up to new about her festive memories, her future with Carl and her fears for eldest son Harvey’s health…

Merry Christmas, guys! How are you feeling about your first Christmas together?

Katie: We can’t wait. The last few Christmases have been really awful for me. But this year I’ve got a new head on my shoulders and I’ve got a fantastic man. It could not be any better.

Why have the past few Christmases been so bad?

Katie: I was just mentally in a bad place. On Christmas Day, I love giving. So this year, to be waking up on Christmas Day and being in love, it makes such a difference. It’s so nice to be with someone who you genuinely want to be with.

Can you talk us through your Christmas Day?

Katie: I’ve got all the kids this year. On Christmas Day we’re hoping to go to my sister’s, and then later on we’ll hopefully see Carl’s family. It’s all about the family – and lots of food.

It must be nice to have all of the kids with you this year?

Katie: Yeah. I alternate with their dads, but the kids are used to it that way and that’s just the way it is. There’s nothing we can do about it.

Do you have to discuss presents with their dads beforehand?

Katie: Yeah, otherwise they’ll end up getting the same and you don’t want that. Especially with Junior and Princess because they’re older. If they end up getting the same presents, it’s an anti-climax because they want more expensive stuff. But with the young ones it’s different if you get something that’s the same because it doesn’t really matter.

What have the kids asked for?

Katie: They’ve got most things. They’re not spoilt at all. Junior always says, “Mum, you spoil me and you always surprise me.” Princess just loves everything I get her as well. I never have a problem with them at Christmas – they love everything I get them. But I wouldn’t say I spoil them. They haven’t been brought up as spoilt kids. They respect how much things are.

Will you be buying the kids presents, Carl?

Carl: Yeah. I don’t know what yet, but I’ll get them something. They’re good kids. I always thought it would be difficult going out with somebody with kids, but Kate’s kids are easy.

What have you asked Carl to get you for Christmas?

Carl: She hasn’t and that’s the problem. So now I’ve got to try and think of something good. What do you get the woman who’s got everything?

Will you be spoiling him, Katie?

Carl: I’ll unwrap her and I’ll be happy.

Katie: Don’t worry, I’ll be there in a red bow ready to be untied!

Do you have any family Christmas traditions?

Carl: It’ll be different because I’ve got kids around this year. I don’t normally have that. So this year I’m going to have to build their toys. It’s exciting, though. But I guess I just have normal traditions – eat and watch telly!

Who is in charge of Christmas dinner?

Katie: I’ve got away with it this year and I love it. It’s normally me who cooks and Carl can’t cook at all. The plan is my sister is going to cook and then when we hopefully go to Carl’s dad’s – his dad’s girlfriend will be cooking. She’s such a good cook. So we’ll be having two dinners, fingers crossed. We’re big eaters anyway, so it’s good. I’ve been getting so many comments saying I look pregnant. I have put on weight because I’ve been in a wheelchair for four months, so of course I have. I admit I’ve definitely put on weight, but it’s so cruel of people to criticise me. I’m happy and healthy and when I start exercising properly again I’ll go back to how I was.

Carl: I fancy her even more now.

Katie: He loves it because he says I’ve got a bum now. He thinks I’ve got a woman’s body.

Have you got a favourite Christmas memory of all time?

Carl: You’ll have to ask her on the 26th!

Katie: He means it’s because I’m spending this year with him. To be honest, I love seeing the kids open their presents. But I do have one memorable Christmas. I think it was last year. Two days before Christmas, Bunny decided to wake up early and she found and opened all her presents. She’s learnt not to do that again because she wasn’t happy on Christmas Day because she had nothing to open.

Have you ever had a really bad Christmas?

Katie: Last year was really terrible. I wasn’t there mentally, because I didn’t have all the kids and my mum was ill. I was mentally drained. But this year I’ve sorted my head out. No one believed me when I came out of The Priory and said I was a new person. I said I’d be completely different, and I’ve stuck to it. I’m coming back stronger. In a way, Carl has got the best of me because I’m older, wiser and mentally in a very good place. I speak to a doctor each week still from The Priory. Not because there are problems, just because I’m still learning to deal with what’s going to happen with my mum.

You seem much happier…

Katie: I am. Carl’s helped me. Not that I need help, but I would never go down that road again. I’ve got rid of so many people in my life who didn’t want to give me chances. The people around me now are people that won’t drag me down. Carl is a massive influence and we do everything together. He’s always believed in me. He had a lot of crap in the beginning from people saying, “Why are you with her?” or “She’ll cheat on you.” And he still gets it now.

How do you deal with those kind of comments, Carl?

Carl: I’m quite thick-skinned and I don’t let it bother me. They’re all full of crap these people anyway. That’s why they hide behind different names.

Katie: Everyone’s got a past and not everyone’s an angel, it’s just that mine has been documented. When you’re with someone you’re happy with, you change because you want to change. And that’s what I’ve done. We’re very much alike. He knows he can easily get girls and I know I can easily get guys. We just don’t go there and we don’t play those games. We’ve got each other’s log-in details on Instagram and we don’t leave our phones on silent.

Could a Christmas engagement be on the cards?

Katie: I’d love that!

Carl: A Christmas engagement isn’t on the cards. Sorry, it’s not going to happen.

Katie: He says it’s going to happen when I least expect it. We will get engaged and get married, 100%. But he won’t tell me when. He says it’ll be very soon.

What kind of wedding do you want?

Katie: We know exactly how we’d do our wedding already. We’ve got it all planned and we’re not telling anybody! We know we’re going to be together and it’s so nice. Normally one person in the relationship might push somebody more, but it’s not like that. We just know it’s going to happen anyway. There’s no stress.

And you’ve admitted you’re trying for baby…

Katie: Yeah, we’re trying now. Every month I’m like, “Am I?” And then it’s like, “Oh, never mind, let’s try again.” It’ll happen when it happens.

How many do you want?

Katie: I’d have as many as I can.

Carl: I want two and Kate wants seven altogether, so the maths actually works.

What do you love the most about each other?

Carl: Her eyes.

Katie: He’s got amazing eyes as well. But we just get each other. It’s so weird. People always say, “You’ve said all this before,” but I actually haven’t said any of this before. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone, because we know how we feel and it’s fate how we met. I’ve been waiting to meet someone and it’s taken me 42 years.

Would you say that Carl spoils you?

Katie: As Junior says, I’m a “gold digger” now. I never actually ask Carl for anything, he just buys me stuff. Junior thinks it’s funny. Carl is a car salesman and he’s done it for 10 years. He’s not fame hungry at all.

Carl: I’ve been called fame hungry and people say I’m only with her to be in the limelight, but I couldn’t think of anything worse. But in reality, you can’t not be in the limelight when you’re with her. It doesn’t work. I remember when we first met we went out and someone took a photo of us. You can’t go anywhere.

How do you find being in the public eye, Carl?

Carl: I’m not famous nor am I a celebrity. Some people recognise me, but it’s not to the degree it obviously happens to with Katie.

Katie: People look at him because he’s so good looking. The amount of times I’ve been in the car and there’s a group of girls looking at him. When we were shopping the other day, I was in my little moped behind him and I felt like rubbish. There was a girl who walked past and she thought she was amazing. She was looking him up and down and obviously didn’t see me behind and I turned around and I was like, “You alright? He’s nice, isn’t he?”

Do you get jealous?

Katie: I’m not jealous at all.

Carl: She’s such a liar!

Katie: [Laughs] Carl is definitely worse than me. The thing is, we never argue. And if we do bicker, it’s only because of jealousy about other people looking at us. But it’s only because we love each other.

Do you ever spend time apart from each other?

Katie: No. We’ve spent every day together since meeting. And we don’t plan to spend time apart. Our relationship wouldn’t work for everyone because some people say, “Doesn’t it drive you mad being together 24/7?” But we’re not like that. We do everything together. We don’t want to be apart.

You’ve converted your garage into a gym to help Harvey lose some weight. How has he been doing?

Katie: Yeah, we’ve got some gym stuff for him and put it all in Carl’s garage. Prep Kitchen are also going to send meals to his school. We want to try anything to help him lose his weight. He’s lost 4kg this week, so at least he’s lost something.

Harvey being high risk must be so scary for you…

Katie: I've had more Covid tests than I’ve had dinners. I have to constantly have them to be around Harvey and my mum. It’s a worry.

Will you be able to see your mum during the festive period?

Katie: I’m hoping I’ll be seeing her before Christmas. She’s absolutely petrified of getting ill and she’s isolating. The kids haven’t been able to see her. We always FaceTime, but we’ve got to be careful for her health.

Does your mum get on well with Carl?

Katie: Really well. They text each other all the time. My mum really likes Carl a lot.

Carl: It’s because I don’t ponce off Katie. I’m always the first to pay for stuff.

Katie: He’s a proper gentleman, as my mum would say. My mum always says he’s so good looking. Let me tell you, he’s so good looking in real life it’s ridiculous. He looks good in photos but in real life he’s amazing. I always ask, “Why on earth do you want me?” He could have anyone. But his dad actually told me that he had posters of me on his wall and I was his No1 pin-up. He said he always wanted me and I was his dream girl.

He got what he wanted then…

Katie: Yeah! Also, years ago I wanted a flag on my house called Priceywood instead of Hollywood. And now I’ve met Carl and he’s Carl Woods, it’s fate. We’re putting Priceywoods together and making a business – so watch this space.

And what else can we expect from the return of your empire?

Katie: The Pricey is coming back. I’ll have my equestrian range again and me and Carl will be doing a his and hers range. I’m going to bring swimwear and underwear back. I’ll just be back to how I was and doing what I love best.

What’s been your highlight of the year?

Katie: Meeting Carl. And completing the course at The Priory. That made a difference to me. My kids love having me back. The next good thing for me will be driving again in April when I get my license back. Things are starting to get better now.

Finally, how’s your recovery going with your feet?

Katie: Although I’m back in trainers I think people think I can walk. Yeah I can, but not properly. If I go shopping, after about 20 minutes I have to go back to the car because they kill me. But I’m just taking each day as it comes. They said it would be 18 months before I could walk and it’s been six months and I’m already walking!
