Albert Square legend Charlie Brooks is said to be launching a range of sex toys – with one being touted as 'The Butcher' after her EastEnders character.

Perhaps taking heed of the government's controversial push to retrain, the 39-year-old actress is reported to have come up with the idea after setting up a new company called Crazy Curiosity Ltd.

And now Charlie, who first appeared as villainous Janine in the soap from 1999, is reportedly in talks with saucy brand Ann Summers to launch a premium range of pleasure-giving gadgets, which would hit the shelves in 2021.

"Charlie feels there’s a real gap in the market for some sexy yet affordable toys," a source revealed to The Sun.

"She’s signed a deal and is really excited to branch out into a whole new area."

The star, who is mum to Kiki, 15, is apparently keen to follow in the footsteps of Gwyneth Paltrow, who has a hugely successful lifestyle brand, Goop.

"Gwyneth has really made a name for herself Stateside, so Charlie would love to re-create something similar over here," continued the insider.

"Each toy will have a different name, and one option mooted was The Butcher after her EastEnders character.

"But Charlie worries The Butcher might not appeal to women hoping to find solo pleasure – it doesn’t really shout sexy."

One person who might be able to advise the actress-turned-entrepreneur is former Love Island star Megan Barton Hanson.

The 26-year-old recently launched her fourth edit of sex toys with Ann Summers called 'Megan Loves', including Love Balls and a foreplay set.

She said of the range: "Through trying different things, we really can learn so much about not only our partners but ourselves as well – it can change the way we view, give and receive pleasure."

It's no wonder Charlie is looking to diversify. She previously revealed she's been focusing on stage work since leaving the Square, saying: "I’ve always wanted to do more theatre and I couldn’t really do it when I was in EastEnders.

"Being in control of your own fate on the stage is exhilarating because it’s live and it’s instant and I like exploring different things. I feel quite free on stage, weirdly.

"Even though on the first night, I would literally rather be run over by a bus than go out there. I’m terrified but it’s all right, you have to work with it."

But with theatres still closed across the country, like many performers, she's had to look at other ways to earn a crust.

And 'The Butcher' might be just what the nation needs if there's a second lockdown! Though we're not sure Pat would approve…
