Duchess Kate steps out (maskless) to assume the co-presidency of the Scouts

I’m not going to harp on and on about it, but the Duchess of Cambridge’s eyebrows look strange/different, right? Did she dye them? Hm. These are photos of Kate at a somewhat socially distanced outdoor event today for the Cub and Beaver Scouts. Kate was always a patron to the Scouts organization – that was one of her first patronages when she became a royal. But she barely manages one event with them a year. Still, they gave her a “promotion.”

The Duchess of Cambridge has become the first woman to be named president of the Scouts as she takes on a joint role at the organisation. Kate, 38, has been named joint president of The Scout Association, alongside the Duke of Kent, who is the Queen’s cousin. Not only is Kate the first woman to have held the role, it’s also her first presidency.

Kate said: “For many children and young people, The Scout Association plays a key role as they build relationships and develop the skills they need to succeed in later life. When I volunteered with the Scouts on Anglesey eight years ago, I was struck by the huge impact the organisation has on inspiring young people to support their communities and achieve their goals. I am delighted to be joining The Duke of Kent as joint president of the association and look forward to working with Scouts across the country as they strive to make a positive difference to our society.”

To mark the announcement, Kate is visiting the 12th Northolt Scout Group in West London, to hear how the group has adapted during the pandemic, including their #TheGreatIndoors campaign.

She’s really coming for all of the Duke of Kent’s patronages, huh? First it was Wimbledon (the Duke of Kent was the longtime royal patron, and he got to hand out trophies) and now the Scouts? But I can see why the Scouts would want a youngish mum – especially one who embraces the outdoor lifestyle – to be their co-president.

Anyway, Kate spent time with the kids and they roasted marshmallows and Kate even ate one! No one wore masks but it does look like they tried to keep six feet apart. Still, they should have worn masks. All of them.
