Corey Taylor has confirmed that Slipknot will begin recording their sixth studio album in January.
Provoked by a fan’s comment on Twitter that the band would hit the studio only in 2020, the Slipknot frontman tweeted: “No no- 2019. That’s what I said. Recording in Jan. Album out middle of 2019.”
Slipknot’s European tour, set for June 2019, is well-timed to promote the new album.
It will be Slipknot’s sixth album, a follow-up to 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter.
Speaking to Billboard about the new album, the band’s percussionist and co-founder Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan said, “This world is ugly and it’s supposed to be, and it has to be in order for art to lead to grandness and beauty.”
