A woman has hit out at Nando's after allegedly finding a live maggot in her food.
Alix Alexander posted footage on Twitter , which shows a maggot wriggling around on a plate, at a Nando's restaurant in Fort Kinnaird, Edinburgh.
Although it is not clear where the maggot came from, in a tweet to Nando's, she wrote: "@NandosUK just what I wanted to be eating, maggots." She also added two emojis of a person being sick.
The video has now been more watched more than 31.2k times since it was posted on Thursday, with users replying they were "put off Nando's" after watching the clip, reports Edinburgh Live .
However one user said the maggot could add "extra flavouring".
The peri-peri chicken chain have since apologised to Alix and is now investigating the incident, according to the Daily Record
A Nando’s spokesperson said: “The team in Edinburgh have sincerely apologised to Alix for what happened and compensated her.
“We regret any distress this event caused and our health and safety team are currently conducting a comprehensive review of what happened.
“We will do everything we can to make sure it does not happen again.”
The Mirror Online has contacted Nando's for a statement.
